GayBob Spongepants (or SpongeBob Gaypants, if you prefer)

Here's a disturbing article I found in which "Conservative Christian groups accuse the makers of a video starring SpongeBob SquarePants, Barney and a host of other cartoon characters of promoting homosexuality to children".

Of course what the video is actually trying to do is promote and encourage tolerance and diversity, and yes, that includes GAY PEOPLE. "But at least two Christian activist groups say the innocent cartoon characters are being exploited to promote the acceptance of homosexuality". Uhhhh.... yeah. AND? Would it be such a horrible thing if children learned to accept homosexuals???

It gets better the more they try and explain it: "Christian groups however have taken exception to the tolerance pledge on the foundation's Web site, which asks people to respect the sexual identity of others along with their abilities, beliefs, culture and race". Whew. It's a good thing that these Christian groups are here to keep us safe from the potential danger of growing tolerance and acceptance. Because what kind of a world would we live in then!?!?!

"Their inclusion of the reference to 'sexual identity" within their 'tolerance pledge' is not only unnecessary, but it crosses a moral line," James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in a statement released Thursday". But of course.... being gay is so very immoral.

Is there much more I can say about this article without launching into a full out rant? Maybe someone can explain to me exactly what is so wrong about teaching kids to be tolerant of the differences between people, because I can't quite figure this one out.

Shabat Shalom everyone.
